let's say that we are going to design a lick that uses two hand tapping
First, we have do decide how many fingers to use on the left hand
There are 4 possible choices
after we have chosen the the left hand, then we have to choose how many fingers we will use on the right hand
There are 4 possible choices
therefore, there are 16 different combinations of left and right hand tapping methods
whenever I'm practicing, or creating new licks,
I like to use the "Tapping Sequence Diagram" to help in the creative process.
during the exercise, I like to use many of the different drills that have been previously described
When I am playing guitar with a pick, I like to use the remaining fingers on my right hand for tapping
It is a good idea to learn to utilize bending and sliding with the tapping hand
I like to use a different sequence each time, so I mark down the last one that I used
the diagram is divided into two halves, left and right, to indicate the number of fingers to use for each hand
I took the trouble to list the combinations here for you
1 finger 1 finger
1 finger 2 fingers
1 finger 3 fingers
1 finger 4 fingers
2 fingers 1 finger
2 fingers 2 fingers
2 fingers 3 fingers
2 fingers 4 fingers
3 fingers 1 finger
3 fingers 2 fingers
3 fingers 3 fingers
3 fingers 4 fingers
4 fingers 1 finger
4 fingers 2 fingers
